FC Gold Pride News Release
Hayward, CA - FC Gold Pride (8-3-1) will host the Washington Freedom for the second time this season at Pioneer Stadium in this Sunday's match at 3PM PT.
Their last face off ended in a draw on Saturday, June 5 at the Pride's old stadium on the campus of Castro Valley High School. This time, however, the Pride hopes to walk away with a victory.
The Pride is first place in WPS and looks to extend their four point lead over second place Philadelphia Independence with a win this weekend. Bay Area native Brittany Cameron is expected to start in goal for the Pride marking her debut in the WPS.
Several other non-starters may get a chance to play because four Pride players will be missing this weekend's game due to US National Team duties. Shannon Boxx, Kelley O'Hara, Nicole Barnhart, and Rachel Buehler were called up to training camp with the national team, and will play Sweden at Morrison Stadium in Omaha Nebraska July 13.
Freedom players Abby Wambach, Sarah Huffman, and Allie Long, who scored in the last game against the Pride, will also be called up to the National Team, and will miss this weekend's game.
Fox Soccer Channel will provide live game coverage of Sunday's match. Fans can also stream the game online or on their IPhone.
