AFL GETS SOME SOUL... The AFL officially announced the newest expansion team this past week will be the Philadelphia Soul. The Soul is primarily owned be Jon Bon Jovi and former NFL QB Ron Jaworski. The Soul is the second team to commit to joining the AFL in 2004, along with the New Orleans VooDoo. A team has also been awarded to Austin, Texas, who could join the league in 2004 if they can work out the final details on a lease agreement.
BIG MATCH-UP THIS WEEKEND... Fire OL/DL coach Pat Chitwood and Fire assistant coach Oscar Brohm, each coaching respectively for St. X and Trinity. The Rocks come into the game 0-4 after a loss to Seneca and the Tigers are 3-1 following a 35-7 victory over Male. Fire WR/LB Alfonzo Browning and the J-Town Chargers are off to a 4-0 start after defeating Valley 34-0 last Friday. The Chargers will travel to Bullitt East on Friday Night. Fire FB/LB Demetrius Forney and Clarksville are off to a tough start to the season at 0-5 after losing 28-21 to South Decatur. Clarksville will take on Charlestown this weekend. Former Fire OS Anthony Payton and the Fern Creek Tigers are 3-2 after losing to Shelby County last Friday. The Tigers will face Ballard this Friday.
EAGLES OFF TO 3-0 START... The Holy Trinity Eagles 7th & 8th grade team, coached by Fire owner/operator Will Wolford, won again last week over St. Pius. The Eagles will face St. Bernard on Sunday at Ascension.
BUDWEISER FLICK BALL TO SPRINGHURST... Budweiser/Louisville Fire Flick Ball will travel to Buffalo Wild Wings at Springhurst this Thursday. The tournament will start at 8 p.m. and Fire OL/DL's Mike Bowers and Chris Thigpen will be on hand to sign autographs. Come out play some Budweiser Flick Ball and watch Nebraska travel to Hattiesburg, Miss to take on Southern Mississippi.
COME ON, YOU CAN MAKE THE TEAM... Don't forget open tryouts for the Fire will take place on October 12 at old Cardinal Stadium at the Fairgrounds. If you would like more information on the open tryout reply to The Fire Wire or call (502) 368-0009.

7 DAYS UNTIL WE HAVE A NEW WINNER... This month's season ticket drawing is only seven days away. Don't forget the prize this month is a ticket package consisting of two tickets to the Cincinnati Bengals/Baltimore Ravens game on Sunday October 19 at Paul Brown Stadium. The second set of tickets will be two tickets for the University of Louisville game on Saturday November 15 as they take on rival Memphis. The final set of tickets is for the November 29 UK game at Commonwealth Stadium as they square off against the Tennessee Volunteers. If you haven't renewed your tickets or you want to buy 2004 season tickets you can do so by calling (502) 368-0009. Tickets for all eight home games start at $49 and will include parking for all eight home games.
