Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

The Name the Promotion contest sponsored by Modern Woodmen Bank is moving into Phase Two - its final phase - putting fans one step closer to planning a new promotional event for the 2009 season.

"We hoped to unveil a list of five great finalists, and that is exactly what we are able to do today," said team owner Dave Heller. "Time and time again our fans have showed that they care about what is going on at Modern Woodmen Park and they have great ideas about how to make things even better. Soliciting fan input and using it to improve the quality of the ballpark experience is the way we help ensure that every fan has a great time at Modern Woodmen Park."

After receiving a wide variety of unique and innovative ideas from fans during the open suggestion phase of the contest, the River Bandits and Modern Woodmen Bank got together to pick out the five best ideas. They are listed below in alphabetical order:

Bandit Wedding - One lucky couple will have the wedding of a lifetime and get married on the Modern Woodmen Park diamond immediately before a River Bandits game!

Beverage Batter - If the River Bandits player selected pre-game delivers a base hit during the contest, everybody in attendance benefits from beverage discounts for the remainder of the inning!

Elvis Night - A full-blown promotional night dedicated to The King himself!

Rascal Kids Hat Giveaway - What more exciting of a giveaway item can we plan than a kids' hat featuring the River Bandits lovable mascot Rascal?

Van Down by the River - A few lucky fans each night would have the opportunity to take in a ballgame from a River Bandits van parked on the right field berm!

The unveiling of the five finalists also means that Phase Two of the contest is officially under way. Fans can submit their vote for next season's great promotion online by visiting Modern Woodmen Bank's website at www.ModernWoodmenBank.com/RiverBandits or the River Bandits' website at www.RiverBandits.com. Votes can be submitted until February 27, at which point the River Bandits and Modern Woodmen Bank will tally the votes and announce the winning promotion.

"Modern Woodmen Bank is thrilled to be a part of the newest contest to enhance the game experience for fans," said Steve Ollenburg, President and CEO of Modern Woodmen Bank. "The top five ideas are all fun and creative ways to enjoy the game in a new way."

In addition to publicly receiving credit for presenting the promotion that is ultimately selected as the winner, the fan with the best idea will be rewarded in a number of ways. If one of the single-game promotional options is chosen, they will receive four tickets to the game in which the promotion is featured as well as the opportunity to throw out the first pitch beforehand. If the winning idea turns out to be one of the season-long promotions, one appropriate game will be selected. The winner will also receive a River Bandits prize pack full of team merchandise and other great items.

"Each of the five ideas that are up for the final vote has great promotional value for different reasons," said River Bandits Vice President and General Manager Kirk Goodman. "We look forward to incorporating whichever one wins into a promotional schedule that is already packed with great giveaways, promotions and fun for all ages. Modern Woodmen Park is going to feature even more entertainment options, even more giveaways and even better value than before. The 2009 season is shaping up to be another great one."
