Binghamton News Release
BINGHAMTON - The day that many residents of the Southern Tier have been waiting for is finally here. The Binghamton Indoor Football team is having their first open tryout on September 17th at The Edge Sports Complex from 1-3 pm with registration starting at 12 pm. By the end of this week, individuals who would like to pre-register can do so on our team website, www.binghamtonindoorfootball.com, and additional details will be posted on our several social media sites.
The cost to participate in tryouts is $75 at the door, but if you pre-register online, the cost drops to $50 to take your shot at becoming the next big football talent in the Southern Tier. Participants must be 18 years of age to tryout, and will be put through drills similar to most outdoor tryouts. With an emphasis on speed and strength, both of these skills will be tested in both one on one drills, as well as individual testing in the 40 yard dash, and several other cone drills and game simulations. Tryouts will be open to the public and we encourage fans to show up and support this expansion team.
"As many people can tryout as they want. With some registering at the door the day of, we don't have an exact number of attendees yet, but no matter the number attending, we hope to find a few hidden gems out there that have what it takes." said Assistant General Manager, Chris Blake, on Tuesday. "This is Binghamton's team and in order to sustain that, we look to balance local talent with talent from across the nation. This is their opportunity for local players to make our team and play professional football in their hometown."
Binghamton joins the Indoor Football League as an expansion team for the 2012 season in the Atlantic Division with foes in Allentown, Richmond, and Reading. The Indoor Football League itself features 23 teams across the nation spanning from the East Coast to Fairbanks, Alaska.
