Fever Organization finding success on the field and in the seats
June 14, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Tri-Cities Fever News Release
Kennewick, WA. 06/14/06 - The Tri-Cities Fever of the National Indoor Football League have clinched their second straight playoff appearance in as many seasons. They will host their first ever playoff game on Monday night, July 10th against either Beaumont (TX) or Wyoming. Last season the Fever went on the road to win all three playoff games before returning home to host the Indoor Bowl V against the Rome (GA) Renegades. The Fever won that game 47-31 to become the 2005 NIFL National Champions in just their first season of existence.
On the field the Fever are 21-9 in the two seasons combined so far. Under current Head Coach Dan Whitsett the Fever are 20-7. They finished 13-5 last season and currently sit at 8-4 on the season this year. At the Toyota Center the Fever have an 11-3 record overall with a 6-1 mark this season. The Fever have only lost two games in a row once in their history. That came last season when they played the Everett Hawks in back to back games, with one on the road and one at home. The loss on the road at Everett was just a two-point margin. The Fever have defeated every opponent they have met in the two seasons at least once with the exception of the Cincinnati Marshals (only played them once, at Cincinnati) in 2005, and the Rapid City Flying Aces (0-2) this season.
In the seats the Fever are finding success as well. There are over 3,000 season ticket holders and that helps result in an NIFL leading attendance per game that tops out well over 5,000 per game in the Toyota Center. Fever Head Coach Dan Whitsett applauds the fans that come out and support the Fever organization. "Our fan base is outstanding," said Whitsett. "We have the best fan base in the NIFL and that makes players want to be a part of this organization. Our fans help make a difference in our recruiting. I can tell a prospect that he will be playing in front of 5,000 people during home games. That really helps get them excited about coming here."
