Demonz Defeat Wolves to Split Weekend Series

The 1st place Watertown Wolves looked to remain at the top of the Federal Hockey League standings as they battled the 2nd place Dayton Demonz at the Watertown Municipal Arena.

Dayton would get off to an early lead with a goal from Ahmed Mahfouz just under 1 minute into the first period. Mark Rivera would extend the lead in the last minute of the period for Dayton to 2-0.

Lester Brown's goal 13 minutes into the second period extended Dayton's lead. Watertown looked like it was going to turn things around when Phil Bronner scored a goal 30 seconds later. Dayton wasn't finished scoring though as Jared Hicks gets the puck past Nick Niedert in the last minute of the period to make the score 4-1.

The Wolves would start the third period by switching to Jo St. Pierre in the net. Mahfouz scored in the first minute of the period to extend Dayton's lead. Dylan O'Neil scored for Watertown four minutes later. Dayton would go on to win and reclaim 1st place in the Federal Hockey League.

The Watertown Wolves' next home game will be against the Berkshire Battalion at the Watertown Municipal Arena on Thursday, February 19th. The puck drops at 7:35. A New Beginning

After weeks of turmoil.and many outsiders calling the Steel City Warriors as a franchise in ruins the Warriors rise from the ashes led by New Head Coach John Mooney. With a quality core of players like Captain Zach Tatrn, Denis Semenov, Nicola "Frenchy" Levesque, Edgars Ozolins, Nikolas Sturmankin, and James Robbins in the net, The Phoenix rose with additions like Gary Klapkowski (1 GOAL AND 3 ASST) D man Jimmy Roach, James Fuhs And hold over Tim Harris. The Warriors jumped out to a quick lead in the first with a cast of new players mixed in but just could not hold off the Batallion. Number 1 star Tom Tracy put up 6 points to lead the Batallion's surge in the 3rd period to pull away. The Warriors put up an effort Berkshire was not expecting, and only the play of Tracy kept the Warriors at bay. Berkshire is storming towards the playoffs with another hard fought victory, But with a rejuvenated Warriors team playing like they did tonight the league should expect the Warriors to spoil the fun of someone heading out of the playoffs.
