Dashers Down Exhausted Whalers 6-4

The Whalers played their 7th game in 10 days on Sunday, and fatigue, injury, and call-ups took their toll, and the Whalers would lose 6-4.
Danbury scored the first goal of the game, a wrap around goal by Dmitry Antipin to make it a 1-0 Whalers game. However, a couple minutes later, Danville would explode with 3 goals in 4 minutes to take a 3-1 lead, coming from a power play goal by James Gordon, then goals from Wehebe Darge and Brad Denney. The onslaught continued in the 2nd as the Dashers scored twice in 16 seconds to take a 5-1 lead, from goals by Daniel Turgeon and Zach Kuta. A couple minutes later on the power play Tim Richter scored to make it 5-2 and get Danbury back in the game. At the 8 minute mark, however, Andrew Harrison would score to make it 6-2. In the 3rd period the Whalers would play their best period, despite losing Steve Brown after taking a 5 minute major for boarding and a game misconduct. After killing the penalty, the Whalers went to work. They outshot Danville 12-8 and forced Breton Lindoff to make save after save. Ryan Patsch would score 12 minutes in to make it 6-3, and Mike Zanella scored with the Whalers net empty to make it 6-4, but time ran up for the Whalers, and the 6-4 score was final.
For Danbury, Ryan Patsch and Tim Richter had a goal and assist each, Mike Zanella and Dmitry Antipin had goals each, Brett Liscomb and David Lun had 2 assists each. Kevin Hoy Stopped 19 of 23 shots against, Mike Brown in relief stopped 21 of 23. For Danville, Wehebe Darge, James Gordon, and Andrew Harrison had a goal and assist each, Brad Denney, Daniel Turgeon, and Zach Kuta had goals, Gehrett Sargis, Brian Soskin, and A.J. Tesoriero had 2 assists each. Breton Lindoff stopped 32 of 36 shots for the win.
Danbury next plays at home on Friday, January 9th vs the Dayton Demonz, meanwhile, the Danville Dashers are home against the Steel City Warriors on Thursday, January 8th. 875 fans were in attendance at Danbury Ice Arena for the contest.
Demonz Mahfouz's Hat Trick Paves the Way to Victory Over Warriors
To cap off a four game weekend, Steel City got off to a slow start by going down 6-0 in the first period enroute to a Dayton 10-1 win over Steel City. Leading the Demonz were Ahmed Mahfouz 5 point night, (hat trick and 2 assists), Seth Ronsberg with 2 goals, Robert Vanwysberghe (1-3), August Aiken (1-3) and Jared Hicks with 4 assists. The lone Warrior goal was from Jonathan Hammums who spoiled Dustin Carlson who was seeking his first shutout of the season.
