Edmonton, Ab. (September 21, 2012) - The Eddies are looking to play spoiler on Sunday when the Fort Lauderdale Strikers visit Clarke Stadium (K.O. 2 p.m.) for the final game of the 2012 NASL regular season.

FC Edmonton has been eliminated from post-season contention but the Strikers still have positioning to play for.

Fort Lauderdale is currently in fifth place in the league standings and that's as high as the Strikers can finish. But an Edmonton win, combined with a San Antonio loss to the Minnesota Stars FC and the Strikers would fall to the sixth and final playoff spot.

Strikers head coach Daryl Shore said that's something he and his team would like to avoid.

"We think it's important to end the season on a positive, so we're going into Edmonton to get three points," he said. "We still have to address our roster in terms of injuries and suspensions, but we are going to put a team on the field with the intention of getting the three points and getting some momentum going into the playoffs."

The Eddies are in eighth place in the league and with just one game remaining, cannot catch the seventh place Atlanta Silverbacks.

Still, FCE midfielder and captain Chris Kooy said pride is on the line.

"We've played them three times now and every game has ended 1-0 with the home team winning them all. We do not want to lose at home in front of our fans," he said. "They have supported us all year and we want to send them, and ourselves, into the off-season on a winning note."

The club has dubbed Sunday's game; Fan Appreciation Day. The first 1,000 fans to arrive at the stadium will receive an FC Edmonton key chain.
