FC Edmonton News Release
EDMONTON, AB (May 1, 2015) - FC Edmonton returns to North American Soccer League (NASL) action on Sunday, May 3 (2:00 p.m. MT KO) at Clarke Field against Minnesota United FC. Presented by Flaman Fitness, this weekend's match will be the Eddies first NASL action since April 19 after having a league bye weekend.
"We have an exciting match this weekend against Minnesota United FC," said FC Edmonton's head coach Colin Miller. "We always have entertaining and close affairs against this team, so everyone is looking forward to this match. Minnesota is one of the top franchise's in the NASL and we'll have to be at our very best on Sunday if we want to continue our unbeaten home record."
Even though the Eddies have not played any league matches in the last thirteen days, they've been kept busy with the Amway Canadian Championship series against Ottawa Fury FC. Securing their spot in the semi-finals against Vancouver Whitecaps FC after defeating Ottawa 6-2 on aggregate score, the Eddies will have a busy upcoming week, playing three matches in the next eight days.
Despite a busy schedule, FC Edmonton seems to be thriving on all the action. FC Edmonton remain undefeated at Clarke Field in the last 10 matches - a franchise record and have also scored 11 goals in all competitions so far this season, nine of which have come in the last three matches.
The last league action the Eddies saw was on April 19 against Fort Lauderdale Strikers. In an entertaining match at Clarke Field, FC Edmonton came from behind to take all three points in a 3-2 win. Striker Tomi Ameobi and midfielders Lance Laing and Sainey Nyassi all scored to help the Eddies to victory.
FC Edmonton have always had an entertaining history against Minnesota United FC. The last time these two teams played each other was at Clarke Field in the 2014 Fall Season when the Eddies were able to grab the points and the 2-1 win with goals from Chad Burt and Lance Laing.
On Sunday, May 3, FC Edmonton will be hosting Minnesota United FC in a match presented by Flaman Fitness. The first 100 fans will receive a special Flaman Fitness t-shit courtesy of the match presenters. Ticket are available online or by calling 780.700.2600.
