FCE Match Preview & Press Notes: vs Indy Eleven
July 25, 2014 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
FC Edmonton News Release
EDMONTON, AB (July 25, 2014) - While only three games into the Fall 2014 North American Soccer League (NASL) season, FC Edmonton and its fans have a lot to look forward to on Sunday, July 27 for the match presented by Coldwell Banker Edmonton against Indy Eleven for Christmas in July at Clarke Stadium (2:00 p.m. MT KO).
"With the start to our season, we know that getting three points is vital for us to stay in the running for the Championship spots," said FC Edmonton assistant coach Jeff Paulus. "Indy have had a great start to their season, so we will have our work cut out for us when they come to Edmonton on Sunday."
The Eddies
The Eddies arrived back in Edmonton from Atlanta licking their wounds after a loss to the Silverbacks on Saturday, July 19. Although the visiting team held the majority of possession, it was a free kick from Atlanta's Pablo Cruz that earned the home team their first clean sheet of the year and first win of the Fall Season. FC Edmonton will be looking for their first win of the Fall Season against Indy on Sunday.
The Eleven
The Indy Eleven suffered their first loss of the 2014 Fall Season last Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. They opened up their season with a win against Carolina RailHawks the week previous and sit at a 1-0-1 record. Despite scoring first in front of a home crowd against the Rowdies, the visiting team were able to rally in the second half and come away with all three points. The Eleven will look for a full three points again on away soil for their first trip up to Edmonton on July 27.
There's no snow on the ground or chill in the air, but it's Christmas in July for FC Edmonton as the club supports Santas Anonymous as the Eddies featured charity of the match. Fans will also receive a Coldwell Banker Edmonton Fan Frisbee upon entrance into the stadium. At half time, everyone is encouraged to participate in the Coldwell Banker Edmonton Halftime throw-in.
Tickets for Sunday's match start at just $10 in the YMCA Family Fun Zone and are available at all participating Edmonton YMCA locations. All other tickets can be purchased online at www.fcedmonton.com or by calling 780.700.2600.
