FC Edmonton News Release
CARY, NC (August 14, 2014) - FC Edmonton once again take to the skies and head south to take on the Carolina RailHawks on Saturday, August 16 (5:30 p.m. MT KO) in the Eddies third consecutive road match in August at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary North Carolina.
"We are looking forward to the match," said FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller "It will be a huge game for both team seeing that we have both come off of a loss last weekend."
The Eddies (1-2-3), had three difficult fixtures last week against North American Soccer League (NASL) league leaders San Antonio Scorpions, 2013 NASL champions New York Cosmos and 2014 Spring NASL Champions Minnesota United FC. Taking a possible five points off their competition, it was the team's close 3-2 loss to Minnesota that will be the most recent memory of a relatively successful week.
"We're disappointed in our match from Saturday," said Miller. "We're trying to answer the bell here. It's all to play for on Saturday against Carolina and the opposition are not strangers to that pressure having also lost last weekend against Tampa Bay."
The RailHawks hosted the Tampa Bay Rowdies last weekend and were handed a narrow 4-3 loss after going down to 10-men for the final minutes of the match. Carolina made a two goal come back in the second half to draw level at 2-2 with the Rowdies before Tampa doubled their lead. In the final minutes of the second half, Carolina made it interesting after a deflected shot rolled across the the goal line, however, it was not enough to draw level with the Rowdies.
"Carolina, at home in particular, are always a handful," said Miller. "They score goals for fun and Colin Clarke has done a great job with the team. They are, like us, surely not happy with last weeks results and will want to make up for it."
