FC Tulsa Launches 'Section 918' to Reward Those Doing Good in Tulsa
September 22, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
TULSA - Becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen was a dream realized by 20 Tulsans during 'Welcoming Week,' a week-long commemoration of new citizens culminating with 918 Day on Saturday. To help celebrate their accomplishment, FC Tulsa gifted the new American citizens free tickets to see the club take on Austin Bold FC last weekend. What those 20 Tulsans didn't know is that they were the first fans to take in an FC Tulsa match in a new section of seats at ONEOK Field - Section 918.
Section 918 will be a special block of seats at ONEOK Field that FC Tulsa will grant to those around Tulsa who are deserving, worth honoring and are doing good for themselves or others. It continues the recent trend of FC Tulsa investing back into the Tulsa community while spreading the love of soccer throughout the city.
"One of the special aspects about our city is the number of Tulsans who unselfishly do good to make our community a better place," said FC Tulsa president James Cannon. "We wanted to find a way to identify and reward those who live that mission. Section 918 is one way for us to say 'thank you' and 'congratulations.'"
FC Tulsa will be on the lookout for more groups and individuals around Tulsa who are deserving, and are currently accepting nominations. If you would like to nominate a person or group who is doing good in Tulsa for an FC Tulsa match experience, fill out this nomination form or send an email to the club at info@fctulsa.com.
Section 918 participants will be recognized at ONEOK Field during the match and on the club's website and social media for their work and accomplishments, as FC Tulsa looks to share stories of Tulsans positively impacting the community.
