FC Tulsa Falls to Group 8 Favorites Birmingham Legion FC

TULSA - In a back and forth affair in its second Group 8 matchup, FC Tulsa ultimately fell to Birmingham Legion FC 2-0 (8-4, 9-2). The loss puts FC Tulsa in a must-win situation against Forward Madison FC on Friday at 4 p.m. CT to advance to the knockout rounds.

EARLY COMEBACK

After falling behind 3-0 in the opening 45 seconds of Game 1, FC Tulsa stormed back to tie the match at 3-3 with 3 goals in 45 seconds themselves. Unfortunately, Birmingham got the all-important go ahead goal and played good defense to hold FC Tulsa to just one more goal in the final 3 minutes of Game 1.

HOT TO COLD

Game 2 looked initially like it might go FC Tulsa's way when Tulsa opened the scoring in the game to take a 1-0 lead. It didn't last long as Birmingham flexed its Rocket League prowess, leaving Tulsa in the dust in a 9-2 Game 2 loss.

GROUP 8 STANDINGS

FC Tulsa remains in second with 3 points, tied with Forward Madison, but ahead on goal differential. Birmingham has clinched the top spot in Group 8, meaning FC Tulsa will need a win in its final group stage match against Forward Madison FC on Friday to advance to the knockout stages.
