FC Tucson News Release
FC Tucson finished its USL Pro Academy slate with a 0-0 tie against Southwest Division leading New Mexico United Sunday in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
After a slow start to the match, FC Tucson began to find its feet and rhythm around the 30th minute. Leonel Gutierrez had a great shot in the 45th minute that tested the New Mexico United goalkeeper.
The hosts came out aggressive in the second half, but Tucson kept its composure. Nick Hanus and Jose Bracamonte had shots to break the deadlock for Tucson. Yuki Shibata, Brandon Sanchez, Fernando Hernandez, and goalkeeper Sean Murray were all impactful players as FC Tucson pushed for the winner.
Shibata was taken down in the box in the 92nd minute, but FC Tucson wasn't given the call. Murray, who punched away a cross in the 80th, had another stop on a shot from inside the box in the 95th to preserve the draw.
FC Tucson concludes its second Pro Academy season at 2-3-4 (10 points) in league play, and posted wins in friendlies against State 48 and defending NJCAA national champions Pima Community College. New Mexico United is 9-1-1 (28 points).
