FC Tucson News Release

FC Tucson got its first win in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as a professional team on Wednesday, and found its next round opponent Friday morning.

The club will host California United Strikers FC of National Independent Soccer Association on Tuesday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Kino North Stadium in the third round of the oldest running soccer tournament in the U.S.

United States Soccer announced the third-round matchups, where FC Tucson was placed in the Southern California region. A random draw of the six teams - which also included Major League Soccer's LAFC and Los Angeles Galaxy, along with USL Championship's Orange County SC and San Diego Loyal - gave FC Tucson the home field and then determined its opponent.

Tickets to the match will be $10.

With its win Wednesday over USL Championship's Las Vegas Lights, FC Tucson matched the clubs longest run. As an amateur side in 2013, FC Tucson advanced to the third round before falling 2-0 to Houston Dynamo of MLS.

Defenders Jacob Crull and Tyler Allen grabbed their first career professional goals to secure the win over the Lights, and Daniel Bedoya added a goal.

Cal United Strikers grabbed a comfortable 5-0 win against San Fernando Valley FC of National Premier Soccer League on Tuesday to advance. Fifteeen-year-old Marcus Lee, notched a goal and assist in the match.
