FC Kansas City Wins the BKD WOW Award at Women's Sports Awards Celebration

KANSAS CITY - FC Kansas City received the BKD WOW Award at the annual WIN for KC Women's Sports Awards Celebration where six local individuals or groups were recognized for their contributions and achievements in sports and fitness.

"WIN for KC is a wonderful organization, which supports female athletes in our community," General Manager Huw Williams said. "It's an honor for us to receive the WOW Award."

The BKD WOW Award is nominated and voted on by members of the WIN for KC Advisory Board and recognizes an individual that has made an impact on WIN for KC and women's sports in Kansas City.

FC Kansas City was recognized for winning its second consecutive National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) title after defeating the Chicago Red Stars and the Seattle Reign in the semifinals and final respectively last year.

"It's a huge honor to receive the WOW award and be in the presence of the great people who also received awards at the WIN for KC luncheon," midfielder Frances Silva said. "It's amazing to be recognized for the hard work we have all put in and I hope that this teams Is able to continue being role models for young females on and off the field."

The Women's Intersport Network for Kansas City (WIN for KC), was established in 1994 with the mission to ignite girls and women through advocating and promoting the lifetime value of sports and fitness, while providing opportunities for participation and leadership development.
