FC Kansas City News Release

KANSAS CITY - After a two-game road trip, FC Kansas City (1-2-0) returns home to Swope Soccer Village on Sunday, May 7th. They are set to face off against the Orlando Pride (0-2-1), with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CT.

Kansas City lost each of their last two games by a score of 1-0. After opening the season with a 2-0 win at home, the team will be looking to get back on the winning track when it returns home this week.

FCKC opened their season with plenty of excitement for their offensive attack with the return of Amy Rodriguez and Sydney Leroux to join Shea Groom. Unfortunately Leroux was the only one of those players able to suit up against Sky Blue last weekend due to injury.

Groom is expected to return to the lineup this weekend and should be a big boost to the Kansas City attack. Together with Leroux, head coach Vlatko Andonovski believes his team can improve on their two-goal performance in the season's opener.

Another reason for Andonovski's optimism is his midfield. The international duo of New Zealand's Katie Bowen and Canada's Desiree Scott, combined with an impressive start to the season from Lo'eau LaBonta and Brittany Ratcliffe, are beginning to gel.

Orlando comes to Kansas City after losing to North Carolina last weekend. This is their second straight road game, and their third in four games so far this season. The team is without star forward Alex Morgan, who is currently finishing out her season for Olympique Lyonnais. However, they are not lacking for star power. Women's soccer legend Marta joined the Pride just prior to the second week of the season and is expected to make her second straight start for the Pride.

FC Kansas City will be celebrating diversity as they host the first ever Out at Swope Night in conjunction with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Beginning with a pre-game tailgate party hosted by the HRC, FCKC encourage fans to Be Blue. Be True. Be You.
