FC Kansas City Looks to End Season on High Note at Home

FC Kansas City News Release

The Blues had high hopes for the season with the return of Sydney Leroux and Amy Rodriguez to the lineup, along with the already solid defense built over the past several seasons. Unfortunately, in the first game the team lost Rodriguez for the season to a knee injury. That set off a domino effect that threatened to derail the team's plans.

Through the difficult times, head coach Vlatko Andonovski never lost faith in his squad.

"We said from the beginning that we are focused on the process more than wins and losses. We know that when we are doing things right, this game is fun and we can do great things."

That attitude has helped Kansas City as they are currently on a run that has seen only one loss in the last seven games. They have scored 13 goals and only given up 9 during that stretch, completely reversing the trend from earlier in the season.

As they prepare to close out the 2017 season, the Blues have the chance to finish in fifth place on the table, despite going without a victory in June or July.

As FC Kansas City battles on the field Sunday evening, they will be helping the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The team will be offering autographed, game-used items in a silent auction throughout the game with the proceeds benefitting the Hand in Hand Hurricane Relief Fund.

Sunday's final game will kickoff at 5:00 p.m. CT from Swope Soccer Village. Tickets are available at FCKansasCity.com. The game can also be viewed on the go90 app for iOS or Android platforms, or online at go90.com or NWSLSoccer.com.
