FC Gold Pride and Philadelphia Independence Set to Face off in WPS Championship

HAYWARD, CA (September 24, 2010) - 2010 WPS Regular Season Champion FC Gold Pride will host the Philadelphia Independence at Pioneer Stadium on the campus of California State University, East Bay for the 2010 WPS Championship presented by CITI.

Philadelphia advanced to the Championship match with a dramatic 2-1 overtime victory, over the regular season's second place team, the Boston Breakers, on Thursday night. The Pride has faced and defeated the Independence three times in 2010 including a 4-1 victory in the regular season finale on September 11.

The Independence is set to arrive in the Bay Area late Friday afternoon and will take on the Regular Season Champions on only two days of rest.

Both teams are scheduled to train on Saturday in preparation for the Championship game. Team Personnel, players and coaches will be available for media following their respective team's training session.

Kickoff for the WPS Championship match is scheduled for 11:30 am PT. The finale of the 2010 WPS season will be televised nationally on Fox SportsNet. The game can also be viewed live online via webcast and via iPhone stream. *NOTE: The game will be aired on tape delay in the Bay Area and can be seen on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area at 6:30 pm PT.
