FC Edmonton's General Manager Moving On
March 4, 2011 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
FC Edmonton News Release
EDMONTON, AB. - On Friday, FC Edmonton's first General Manager resigned his position with the team in order to pursue other opportunities.
Kowalchuk said the decision was not an easy one to make and he wishes the club the best of luck as they enter their inaugural season in the North American Soccer League (NASL) and the Nutrilite Canadian Championship.
"The decision, obviously, was not an easy one," Kowalchuk said. "From belief in the organization, where it's going under the ownership of Tom and Dave Fath and the current staff, success is definitely on the horizon."
Owner Tom Fath said Kowalchuk's contributions to the club since its infancy have been crucial in getting FC Edmonton to where it is today and helped lay the groundwork for the future.
"We are sorry to see Mel go but we support his decision and appreciate the work he has done up to now," Fath said. "Our search for a new general manager starts immediately."
In the interim, Tom Fath will be the acting general manager until a suitable replacement is found.
