FC Edmonton's Corea and El Salvador Welcome Canada in Crucial World Cup Qualifying Match

It will be mixed emotions inside of FC Edmonton's camp this afternoon, when Eddies midfielder Dustin Corea and El Salvador welcome Canada for each side's second match of World Cup Round 4 qualifiers at San Salvador's Estadio Cuscatlán. Corea will be looking to add to the ninety minutes he collected in El Salvador's match against Mexico on Nov. 13. Kick-off for Tuesday's match is set for 6:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on BeIN Sports.

Corea impressed throughout the North American Soccer League (NASL) Fall Season for the Eddies, making 15 appearances and registering a goal and three assists in 1115 minutes of play. The Salvadorian arrived in Edmonton after participating in this year's Gold Cup, where he posted his team's lone goal in their final match against Costa Rica. The 23-year-old could potentially line up against fellow NASL rival Julian De Guzman of Ottawa Fury FC in Tuesday's match.

Canada is coming off a thrilling 1-0 victory against Honduras on Friday, Nov. 13 at Vancouver's BC Place. A goal by Cyle Larin in the 38th minute proved to be the difference as Canada collected all three points to move to the top of CONCACAF's Group A alongside Mexico. Mexico handed El Salvador a 3-0 defeat last Friday in Mexico City.

"I constantly remind Dustin that I scored two goals against El Salvador," FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller joked. "Once in San Salvador and once at Swangard Stadium. Everyone at our club wishes him luck, just not too much luck. This is a great opportunity for Dustin in a pivotal match for both teams."

From 12 remaining CONCACAF nations in 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifiers, Canada are in Group A with Mexico (3 points / +3), Honduras (0, -1), and El Salvador (0, -3). On Tuesday, Honduras hosts Mexico with a 15.00 local kick off in San Pedro Sula.

The 12 nations, divided into three groups, all play six matches in this semi-final round, with the next two matches in March 2016 and the last two matches in September 2016. The two top teams from each group advance to the hexagonal CONCACAF final round, otherwise known as the "Hex".
