FC Edmonton's Carter Retires
June 23, 2021 - Canadian Premier League (CPL)
FC Edmonton News Release
EDMONTON, AB - FC Edmonton midfielder Chance Carter has retired from playing professional soccer, the club announced today.
"Chance made the decision to retire from playing professional soccer to pursue other career interests", said Eric Newendorp, FC Edmonton President and General Manager. "So, we reached a mutual agreement to part ways."
Carter, age 20, is from Edmonton and played with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency program before returning home to join the Eddies' youth academy program. He signed his first professional contract and made his pro debut with the club in 2020 at the CPL's Island Games, where he logged 203 minutes in six appearances at that competition. The club picked up his option for 2021, and he had been training with the team until making this personal decision.
Newendorp continued, "FC Edmonton thanks Chance for his time with the Club, and we wish him happiness and success in the future."
