FC Edmonton News Release

EDMONTON, AB - Yesterday, Friday, January 6th, the US Soccer Federation announced that the North American Soccer League will retain provisional Division II status.

"FC Edmonton and all the other current NASL Teams support this decision and thank the US Federation for all of their hard effort which was put in to complete this process." FC Edmonton co-owner Tom Fath stated. "This decision will allow all the NASL teams to now focus on continuing to be a very competitive league for the coming 2017 season.

"The current NASL Owners and Teams are a great League to be involved with," Fath added. "Dave and I have always appreciated and supported the NASL model where together as Teams we own our own League and thus we have control over of our own future. With the hard work of the USSF Division status process complete, FC Edmonton can now continue planning our season and engaging our fans. We look forward to another thrilling year of competition beginning this spring."

"I think it's great news," FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller said. "All the work that I know Tom has has put into this has paid off. It's now up to FC Edmonton and all the other teams in the league to continue the positive trend going forward of putting a quality product on the park."

"It's an exciting time for the NASL," Miller concluded. "USSF's decision gives us an opportunity to push forward with our preseason and signing players. I'm very happy for Tom because I know that he and the other owners around the NASL have put in an incredible amount of work to reach this point."
