June 10, 2020 - Canadian Premier League (CPL)
FC Edmonton News Release
Edmonton, AB - FC Edmonton has received approval from its provincial and municipal health authorities, as well as the Canadian Premier League (CPL) office to return to training, the club announced today.
The club will begin holding voluntary training sessions for players at Clarke Stadium on Thursday, June 11.
As part of the CPL's training protocol, the club will adopt a phased approach as it returns to training that begins with non-contact individual or small group workouts, and eventually progresses into larger group and full-team training sessions over a period of time.
This plan is designed to provide a secure, sanitary and controlled environment that ensures adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols and physical distancing measures to support the club's top priority of guaranteeing the safety and well-being of its players, coaches, technical staff, employees, and their families when training begins and beyond.
"The team is excited to get back on the pitch but my priority still remains to do this as safely as possible for the players, staff, and their families," FC Edmonton Head Coach Jeff Paulus said.
Media will not be allowed any access to the training facility. Any interviews will need to be arranged through FC Edmonton PR and conducted as per the club's media policy.
Both the CPL and club will continue to monitor and follow all input, guidance and direction regarding the pandemic provided by all levels of government and all soccer governing bodies.
