FC Edmonton News Release

With eight players already signed, FC Edmonton has added four more to its 2011 roster.

Defender André Duberry, midfielder/defender Chris Kooy, defender Antonio Rago and goalkeeper Jaswinder Gill have all put pen to paper on professional contracts with FC Edmonton.

Calgarian André Duberry is making his first foray into professional soccer but the big right back is not lacking in high level experience. The 29-year-old won Nationals with Mount Royal College in 2004, was named an All-Canadian with Mount Royal in 2006 and won Nationals with his club team, Calgary Callies, in 2007 and 2008. Duberry had trials with Livingston and Peterhead in Scotland before joining FC Edmonton.

Fellow Calgarian Chris Kooy captained FC Edmonton during the 2010 exhibition season. The 29-year-old has won three National Club Championships with the Callies and added a Canada Summer Games Gold medal to his cabinet in 2001. Kooy has previous USL experience with the Calgary Mustangs and tried out for Scottish 1st Division club Livingston FC in 2008 before being acquired by FC Edmonton for the exhibition season.

Antonio Rago is a local right back. The 20-year-old has had success at almost every level in youth soccer. Rago won the U16 Alberta Team Nationals; he won the U18 National Championship with Juventus and was a U19 Dallas Cup SuperGroup finalist. Rago has international experience having pulled on the Red and White jersey for the U17 Canadian National team.

Goalkeeper Jaswinder Gill, 25, also has experience with the national team, having played at the U17 and U18 levels. The 6 ‚¬â„¢4 ‚¬Â Edmonton keeper won a National Championship with U18 Juventus was a First Team All Star in Canada West in 2010 for the University of Alberta and a Second Team All Star in the CIS in 2010.

The club will continue to sign players throughout the week as it prepares for training camp.
