FC Edmonton News Release
EDMONTON, Alberta - When FC Edmonton players take to the field this season they'll be backed by a premier partner represented on the team's home and away jerseys.
Owner Tom Fath and the rest of the club's players, coaches and staff are pleased to welcome Sears Financial as FC Edmonton's major sponsor.
"It's my extreme pleasure to announce our main sponsor, Sears Financial, who is making such a significant statement of support," Fath said. "It is a great privilege to have an international organization with such a strong reputation join us, support us and share in the great things we hope to do in, for and with this city."
David Boone, Regional Vice President of Operations for Sears Home Services in Western Canada, said the partnership is an exciting one for both Sears and the soccer club.
"Sears Financial is thrilled to announce this relationship with FC Edmonton," he said. "The sport of soccer is growing in Canada and Sears Financial is excited to be a part of it. Joining with FC Edmonton gives both of our organizations innovative opportunities to promote two great brands."
The 2011 jerseys were officially unveiled today for the first time at the Victoria Soccer Club's Karl Weidle Indoor Centre. The team will wear the Sears Financial jerseys for the first time on April 9 when it opens the 2011 NASL season against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in Florida.
FC Edmonton's first home game is a Nutrilite Canadian Championship match against the MLS' Toronto FC on April 27. Tickets go on sale to the public on Monday.
