EDMONTON, AB - FC Edmonton announced, Jan 20, the signings of Canadian goalkeeper Nathan Ingham as well as attacking midfielder Gustavo Salgueiro. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Ingham, 22, is recent graduate of NCAA Division 1's Florida Golf Coast University (FGCU) and former Eagles teammate of Eddies midfielder Cristian Raudales. The Keswick, Ont. native was named A-Sun Conference Goalkeeper the Year in 2015 and currently holds the all-time record for conference clean sheets with 26. During the 2015 Premier Development League (PDL) season, Ingham captured the league championship as a member of Kitchener-Waterloo (K-W) United, while also being named Tournament MVP.

"I really wanted a younger Tyson [Farago] to be honest," FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller explained. "I wanted a Canadian goalkeeper to get the opportunity for this position. [FC Edmonton goalkeeper coach] Darren Woloshen has done a bit of work on the recruitment of Nathan and has said his statistics were as good, if not the best in the PDL. Nathan has good size, he's done very well in his collegiate career and he's Canadian. I want to give as many Canadians a chance as long as they are good enough. When I look at our goalkeeping situation, I'm delighted with it."

Salgueiro, 31, comes to the Eddies after playing the previous season with Brazilian club Murci. Salgueiro's playing history also includes stints with clubs Lajeadense, Tadamon SC, Rio Branco, Grêmio Barueri, FC Volyn Lutsk and others. The midfielder will be looked upon by Miller to provide an attacking option for the Eddies during the upcoming campaign.

"We knew we had to have someone in the middle of the park that could play wide left to replace Lance Laing," Miller said. "Gustavo has played most of his career in the Brazilian leagues and when I looked at his highlights and game footage, I had a real feeling that our fans would take to him right away. He is an experienced player and when I spoke to him, he was very excited to come to Canada to play. I think he will be a game changer; he will be something different for us. He has that Brazilian flair about him."
