Fayetteville's Sean Bonar Named Bauer Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Sean Bonar of the Fayetteville FireAntz is the Bauer Player of the Week for January 23-29.

Bonar went 2-0-0, with a 1.99 goals against average and a .938 save percentage as the FireAntz swept a pair of games with Knoxville and extended their winning streak to three games.

On Thursday, the Delta, BC native stopped 30 of 32 shots in a 3-2 overtime win over the Ice Bears. Bonar had another solid night between the pipes on Saturday, making 30 saves as the FireAntz defeated Knoxville 5-2. Bonar stopped 15 shots in the third period alone as Knoxville outshot Fayetteville 16-3.

Bonar has started Fayetteville's last 15 games, going 11-4-0 and currently leads all SPHL netminders in wins (15), shutouts (three), goals-against-average (2.16) and minutes played (1498:00). Bonar played his collegiate hockey at Princeton University and was named to the ECAC All-Academic Team each of his four seasons, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
