FanFest Set as GreenJackets Break Camp

Augusta, GA - The GreenJackets are back in town after breaking Spring Training Camp in Scottsdale, AZ. Fans and Media members are invited out to Lake Olmstead Stadium for the Knology FanFan on Tuesday, April 1 to get a first glimpse at the 2008 Augusta GreenJackets.

"Opening the season at home provides us with the opportunity to have fans come out to see the team before the season starts," GreenJackets General Manager Nick Brown said. "It should be a fun time, and a great opportunity for the fans and media to get up close to the team."

The GreenJackets will be practicing from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., their first full squad workout since breaking camp in Scottsdale. This is the only practice open to the public before the regular season begins on Thursday, April 3.

Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. to the public and the Knology FanFest is free to everyone. The Fun Zone will be open for free to children to play. The gift shop will also be open along with the concession stands.

Fans will have a chance to buy tickets and merchandise before Opening Day with a limited number of tickets still available. There are currently less than 50 tickets left for Opening Day, less than 200 for Friday, April 4 and less than 100 for Saturday, April 5.

The 20th Anniversary season begins at home on Thursday, April 3 with a four game series against Greensboro. The home stand will include a Fireworks Show on Friday, April 4, the ZOOperstars on Saturday, April 5 and finish on Sunday, April 6; one day before The Masters first practice round will begin. It is the first time since the 2003 season that the GreenJackets will open at home before The Masters.
