
Familiar MLS Faces Move to New Places in 2009

First Kick 2009 has gotten even more intriguing this offseason, with trades and new player signings shaking up the MLS landscape. Fresh off his MLS Cup win, Sigi Schmid will coach legendary goalkeeper Kasey Keller and MLS' newest club, Seattle Sounders FC, in '09. Perennial all-star Dwayne De Rosario returns to his home country to play with Toronto FC, while 2006 MLS MVP Christian Gómez is back with his former squad, D.C. United. Pan-Pacific Championship 2009
The second edition of the Pan-Pacific Championship is set to kick off next week at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Four premier soccer clubs, including three of Asia's current champions and MLS' own LA Galaxy, will participate in the tournament, Feb. 18 and 21.
Bradley leads US over Mexico
Michael Bradley, son of national team coach Bob Bradley, scored twice for the U.S. in Wednesday's CONCACAF qualifying match for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Bradley's goals gave the U.S. a 2-0 win over Mexico, providing an excellent start in the 10-game round-robin qualifying format that runs through Oct. 14.
