Danville Dans News Release

(DANVILLE, IL) - There are familiar names on the Danville Dans roster, with four Dans from last year - including Oakwood's Casey Fletcher and Parkland College's Adam Casson - returning for the 2013 season.

"We're always glad when our Dans want to come back for a second season," said Dans managing partner Jeanie Cooke. "Casey and Adam will be joined by pitchers Trey McNickle and Zach Gordon for 2013."

Fletcher, who will be joining the University of Illinois baseball team next year, is finishing his sophomore year at Kankakee Community College where he's hitting .389 and leads NJCAA Division II baseball with 67 RBI's.

Casson appeared in 55 of the Dans 60 games last year, and was the nearly-regular first baseman. He batted .298 with 15 extra-base hits, 32 RBI's, and 26 runs scored.

McNickle, from St. Petersburg College, and Gordon, at Jacksonville University (both in Florida) are right-handed pitchers. McNickle appeared in 30 games last season, while Gordon joined the Dans late in the year as an injury replacement.

The 2013 roster is heavy on experience in other ways, with seven sophomores and 12 juniors being joined by eight players completing their freshman year in college.

"We're also very excited to have Jamie Sailors returning as our manager for another season," Cooke said. Sailors returned to the Dans last season, and previously led the team in 2005 & 2006.

Sailors will be joined by Jason Watson as Associate Head Coach. "Jamie coached Jason in college at Wisconsin-Platteville, so they have a good working relationship," Cooke added.

The Danville Dans are a member of the Prospect League, one of the premier college summer leagues in the nation. Baseball players from California, Florida, and all across the Midwest - include eight who come from Illinois - are coming to Danville to improve their fielding skills and batting with wood bats. With this dedication, it is no wonder that some players advance to the major leagues after graduation, including 20 former Dan players.

The Dans open their 60-game season on May 29, with the home opener on Thursday, May 30. Game time is 6:30 pm at historic Danville Stadium.

Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for school children at the door. Once again, the team will have Two-Buck Tuesdays, with $2 admission, along with $2 hot dogs and $2 sodas or beers.

Back this year are ticket books, with 30 tickets for just $90.00. "The ticket books can be used as a season ticket for all 30 games, or you can use all 30 for a single game," Cooke noted. "It's a great way for a group of people to come enjoy the game." Ticket books can be purchased at the door with check or cash, and can also be purchased on the team's website with a credit card.
