
Falcons Fall in Extra Inning-Opener to HarbourCats

KELOWNA, B.C. - The Kelowna Falcons came from behind three separate times to tie the score and force extra innings on Tuesday night but eventually fell in 10 innings to the Victoria HarbourCats by a 13-7 score at Elks Stadium.
After surrendering the first run of the game in the 3rd inning, the Falcons struck for 4 runs in the bottom half of the frame thanks to an RBI double from Steffen Torgerson and three RBI singles which came from Matt Voelzke, Cody Crowder and Lucas Soper to put Kelowna ahead by a 4-1 score before Nate Pecota answered with a grand slam in the 4th inning to restore the Victoria advantage, four of his six RBI's on the night.
Kelowna tied the game in the 5th inning on a Trent Tinglestad RBI double down the left field line before the HarbourCats struck with a pair of runs in the 7th inning to go ahead by a 7-5 score. Josh Figueroa doubled to the left-center field gap which led to a Voelzke RBI single to tie the game once again in the 8th inning. The game went to extra innings to decide, where the HarbourCats erupted for 6 runs in the extra frame and opened the series with a 13-7 victory.
Zac Bygum took the loss for the Falcons while Gunner Friend earned the win as the loss pushed the Falcons record to 2-5 on the season. Kelowna will look to even up the three-game series on Wednesday with a rematch against Victoria. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM.
