Kelowna Falcons News Release

KELOWNA, B.C. - The Kelowna Falcons suffered their first loss of the 2018 West Coast League season as a four-run 4th inning helped propel the Bellingham Bells to an 8-2 victory on Saturday night at Elks Stadium.

The Bells got an excellent start from Johnny Wiltfang, who threw seven innings while allowing just two runs on six hits. Matt James and Dusty Stroup each drove in a pair of runs while the likes of Jordan Stocker and Guthrie Morrison combined for 9 hits in 10 plate appearances. Bellingham finished the night with 18 hits en route to the six-run win as James and Stroup pitched in with three-hit nights of their own.

The Falcons' Trevor Bridgen took the loss in the game and struggled to get outs, going 3.2 innings while allowing 11 hits and 5 earned runs before turning the night over to the bullpen as Bradley Stookey and Grant Suponchick took over. Trent Tinglestad and Tylor Nixon drove in Kelowna's runs on the night with RBI groundouts. The Falcons left 11 runners on base while the Bells stranded 9.

The final game of the opening weekend set between the Falcons and Bells goes on Sunday evening with first pitch coming at 6:05 PM. It's Minor Baseball Night as children wearing their minor baseball jerseys will get into the game for free. Tickets are available through the Falcons website at http://kelownafalcons.simpletix.ca/Event-List/.
