Kelowna Falcons News Release

After 31 hits in the first two games of the series the Kelowna Falcons bats went quite losing 4-0 in Wenatchee in the seasonal series finale. It was also the final road game of the year for the Falcons.

The Sox jumped out to a 3-0 lead through four innings off Falcons starter Matt McCallister. All three runs were earned off the righty, who didn't receive any offensive support.

The Falcons bats were so quite they didn't get their first base runner until the top of the fifth when lead-off man Greg Freisen was hit by a pitch. Their first and only hit came in the seventh when Bo Folkinga hit a two out single.

Sox starter Alex Phillips threw a no hitter through 6.2 innings before the knock by Folkinga. It was his third start of the year against the Falcons and second in Wenatchee. On June 9, he shutout the Falcons through six complete allowing three hits and striking out six. Thursday night was all too familiar for head coach Al Cantwell. Phillips would throw seven shutout innings allowing just two base runners; Freisen and Folkinga, while striking out three and would win for the fifth time this year.

McCallister pitch well on Thursday night and would go the distance allowing three earned runs, scattering nine hits while striking out six in his final Falcons appearance.

The game marks the seventh time the Falcons have been shut out and the fourth time in Wenatchee this season.

The Falcons will return home to face the Kitsap Bluejackets on Friday night to open their final home stand of the season. Gates open at 5:30pm, first pitch at 6:30pm and it's a Five Dollar Friday, as all tickets are just $5.00 and a burger/pop combo is also just $5.00.
