Fairbanks, Alaska becomes Ninth IFL Team
Published on October 11, 2007 under Intense Football League (Intense) News Release
Corpus Christi, TX. The Intense Football League voted on Wednesday unanimously to add Fairbanks, Alaska for the 2008 Season. With one team already in Anchorage, AK that had a tremendous 1st season it only made sense to add Fairbanks. "This is an exciting day for the IFL, the City of Fairbanks, and all of the IFL fans," stated IFL President Chad Dittman. The unnamed Fairbanks team will play all home games at the Carlson Center, which seats around 4,500 for Indoor Football. "The arena is a beautiful state of the art facility and there isn't a bad seat in the house," added Dittman.
The IFL season is slated to start in March. League Officials expect to have the schedule released in late October. After a great finish to the 2007 season in which the Louisiana Swashbucklers defeated the Corpus Christi Hammerheads in Intense Bowl 3 the IFL brings back all 8 teams for 2008. Those teams include the Alaska Wild, CenTex Barracudas, Corpus Christi Hammerheads, Frisco Thunder, Katy Ruff Riders, Louisiana Swashbucklers, Odessa Roughnecks, and the San Angelo Stampede Express.
"We are excited about the future of the IFL and look to continue to bring fans quality entertainment at affordable prices," stated IFL Vice President Tommy Benizio.
