Express tryout draws local star

June 9, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Jersey Express News Release

Newark, NJ. The ABA Newark Express is proud to add Newark's own Lance Jackson to the roster of coaches facilitating the June 10th Open Tryout. Lance attended West Side High School in Newark. A former 6' point guard, Lance was a high school and college All American. After graduating from West Side High, Lance attended Southern Idaho JC, and then moved onto New Mexico State University, class of '95.

After college, he was chosen to participate in the NBA Summer League with the Denver Nuggets. He also attended the Charlotte Hornet camp and was named "Best Player" with the likes of Mugsy Bogues, Vlade Divac, Anthony Mason, Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson. Finally, he played several years in various professional leagues.

Lance still finds time to play but spends most of his time running his own sports and educational programs in the inner city. He now works with at risk high school youth at a residential treatment facility. Lance is also the owner of the clothing line, Triple Threat Gear, which is quickly becoming a household name brand.

To register for the June 10th tryout, or for more information on the Newark Express, log onto www.newarkexpress.com or call 973 586 0006 or visit www.abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
