Express Drop Final Tuneup Game 4-3
September 26, 2006 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Owatonna Express News Release
In the final tuneup match before opening the home portion of their North American Hockey League regular season later in the week, the Southern Minnesota Express dropped a 4-3 decision Tuesday night to Shattuck St. Mary's in Faribault.
The Express came out flat-footed, surrendering three goals in the opening period to a Shattuck prep squad stacked with the top high school players in the country. By the time Southern Minnesota got untracked, the hill was just a little too high to climb.
Jesse Junkermeier scored twice for the Express. PJ Kavaya had the other Southern Minnesota goal. Brock Montpetit, Ben Blood, Nick Osadchuck, and David Toews scored for Shattuck. Simen Paulgaard stopped 23 shots in the Express goal.
Southern Minnesota, the defending NAHL Central Division champions, will host Alexandria Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in the team's home opener at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna.
