London Lightning News Release
(LONDON, ON) - Make it seven straight for the London Lightning as they defeat the visiting Windsor Express 123-104 Sunday afternoon. London remains undefeated on the 2022 season with a perfect 7-0 record.
Much like most games this season, the Bolts found themselves unable to match the opposing team's energy early. After settling in and finding themselves down 29-27 after the first quarter, London would rally behind Cameron Forte's 14 points and score a season-high 38 points in the second frame, taking a 65-51 heading into the half.
The Lightning would overcome less than quality officiating to outscore the Express in both of the final to frames. The victory for the Bolts marks the first career win for assistant coach Michael Provenzano, who was filling in for Head Coach Doug Plumb as he was away to attend his brother's wedding.
Cam Forte continued his scoring streak with season-high 44 points on the night to go along with 18 rebounds. Point guard Jaylon Tate had his best overall game of the season leading the game with 11 assists to compliment his 19 points. Terry Thomas added 24 off the bench while big man Amir Williams added 14 points and another 3 blocks to his season totals.
The visiting Express was led by Billy White's 23 points, a number inflated by his free throw totals. The Express big man shot a meager 4-11 from the field on the night. Kobie Williams added 22 off the bench for the Express while Marcus Anderson had another impressive game with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists.
The Lightning are on the road next as they take on the Sudbury Five at the Sudbury Community Centre this Thursday before returning home to take on the visiting Syracuse Stallions of the TBL Saturday, March 19th.
