Gary Steelheads News Release

Gary, IN-The Gary Steelheads have announced that high-flying Royce Parran has been added to the team's 2008 roster.

At 5'9", Parran will be one of the smallest players in the league, but also one of the most athletic. As a senior, Parran was a finalist in the 2007 NCAA slam dunk contest.

Parran had an outstanding collegiate career at Chicago State University. Highlights include: Honorable mention All- Independent Team as a senior; Second Team All-Mid-Continent as a junior; Mid-Continent Sixth Man of the Year as a freshman. Parran finished his career as the Cougar's all-time leading Division 1 scorer with 1,510 points.

Steelheads' Head Coach Rob Spon - 'There's no doubt that at 5'9" with his leaping ability, Royce is going to be a fan favorite. However, this is not a novelty act-Royce is a fantastic basketball player that will make this team better."

The Steelheads' inaugural IBL season gets underway at the Genesis Center on Friday, March 14. Tickets start at $5-for more information, contact the Steelheads at (219) 883-3000 or visit www.steelheadshoops.com.
