Ex-NFL DL Bradwell Signs with Nighthawks

KNOXVILLE -- Knoxville Nighthawks coach Chris MacKeown likes the look of his latest trio of signees.

Former NFL defensive lineman Chris Bradwell, ex-Fort Valley State wide receiver Jerel Hall, and South Alabama wide receiver Marquis Chapel have been added to Knoxville's roster for the upcoming 2012 Professional Indoor Football season.

"We have a plan here in Knoxville, a blueprint that we believe will make us successful on the field. This group of signees fits that blueprint,'' MacKeown said.

"Chris Bradwell is a big signing for us. Chris has spent two years in the NFL and has played in the CFL. I believe it shows the high level of talent that we are looking to bring to Knoxville and the caliber of player that is needed to compete for a championship in this competitive football league. Make no mistake about it - this is professional football. "

Bradwell (6-foot-3, 226 pounds) was voted the Sun Belt Conference's "Newcomer of the Year" in 2007 after compiling 36 tackles and four sacks at Troy. He moved on to the NFL and spent 2008 with Tampa Bay and '09 with the St. Louis Rams. He has also had stints with the AFL's Georgia Force and the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts.

*Tryout set for Saturday: *The Farragut High School football field will be the sight of the Nighthawks first open tryout. Registration starts at 8:30 am and testing will follow at 9. The cost to pre register is $50 and its $60 cash the day of. Kickers need to register at 8:30 but won't see action until 11.

All players must have shoes for natural grass turf. Participants will be tested in the 40-yard dash, short shuttle and broad jump. Position drills will follow with 1-on-1 and 4-on-4s for skill positions.
