Evansville IceMen News Release
Evansville, IN - The Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, are proud to announce that the organization is the recipiant of the 2014- 2015 "Friend of Education Award" from the Evansville Teachers Association.
The annual award goes to organizations or individuals who have done good things for public education in the Evansville area. The IceMen won this year's award specifically for our new Cold Stone Blizzard's Reading Den as developed by Community Relations Director Jessica Welz and for our annual Education Day game which drew over 7600 at the Ford Center on November 5th. Previous recipients include The Public Education Foundation, Senator Vaneta Becker, and Evansville Federal Credit Union.
"Blizzard's Reading Den was designed to get Elementary and Junior High students more active in reading by having them track the amount of pages they read over a set period of time," said IceMen Community Relations Director Jessica Welz. "If they make their goal they get a free ticket to an IceMen game and top readers in the program receive cool IceMen prizes such as autographed pucks or jerseys."
2015-16 IceMen season tickets are now on sale by calling an IceMen Account Executive at (812) 421-GOAL (4625), Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. And for more information about the IceMen please go to www.evansvilleicemen.com.
