February 2, 2005 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Erie Freeze News Release
The Erie Freeze of the Atlantic Indoor Football League will hold a press conference at 3:30 PM, Friday, February 4, 2005 immediately following the team's local open tryouts at the Family First Sports Park, 8155 Oliver Road in Erie, Pennsylvania. The team will be signing the first Freeze players to professional contracts.
Freeze Head Coach/General Manager Mike Esposito announced, "I think that our fans will be presently surprised with the talent we will sign to a contract on Friday afternoon. The organization wants our fans to see the development of a championship organization at every step of the way."
The signings come on the day of the Freeze's second tryout to be held on Friday, February 4, 2005 at the Family First Sports Park. Registration is set for noon with the tryout to get underway at 1:30 p.m. Kickers will also be charted and graded during this tryout. The cost for this tryout is also $65.00 and no personal checks will be accepted.
Esposito added, "Last week we signed a couple of guys from our first open tryout, and I know that even more talent will be in town on Friday. The office phones have been ringing off the hook with calls from major college and ex-pro talent that are looking for a new start right here in Erie. Our organization is all about opportunity."
Speaking of opportunity, Friday's open tryout will also be an opportunity for all members of the local media to test if they have what it takes to be a professional football player.
"A lot has been made about my professional wrestling background," stated Esposito, "If I can quote the great philosopher Ric Flair, âTo talk the talk, you have to be able to walk the walk!' and we want to see if any member of the local media has what it takes to be a member of the Freeze."
Any member of the local television, radio, or print media has an open invitation to work out for the Freeze coaching staff and prospective roster players during the Friday tryout. Contact Coach Esposito at the Freeze offices for special instructions.
Prospective tryout participants are asked to register in advance. For information, please contact Head Coach/GM Esposito at (814) 454-0200 or e-mail at mesposito@eriefreeze.com.
