Erie Freeze News Release
To say that Erie's Michelle Fuller is possibly the most accomplished supporter of Erie's High School, Collegiate, and various professional sports teams would only be the tip of the iceberg.
The Erie Freeze, a charter member of the Atlantic Indoor Football League, is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Fuller to the position of Head Coordinator of the Freeze's professional dance/cheer squad, the "Chillers".
Fuller began her involvement with the entertainment side of sports as a cheerleader in high school for both Mercyhurst and McDowell. Upon graduation, she attended one year at Slippery Rock before the pull of the Erie area brought her home to finish her educational career at home.
At Gannon University, Fuller was a member of the cheerleading squad from 1989-1992 where she was named captain. In addition, she introduced co-ed cheerleading at the school, and was a catalyst in forming the Gannon Knight-line Dance team. In addition, during the same time period, Fuller cheered and danced for the Erie Wave basketball team of the World Basketball League.
Upon graduation from Gannon, Ms. Fuller obtained an elementary teaching position at Millcreek and began coaching high school cheerleading at McDowell. In 1994, she coordinated the dance team for the Erie Hawks and, in 2000, she organized the Erie Invaders of the Indoor Football League's dance team, the "Invaderettes."
Not one to remain idle for long, Fuller started the Millcreek Spirits All-Star Competitive Cheerleading program for kids in grades K-8 now serving students K-12. Under her tutelage, the Spirits have won 5 National titles as well as numerous State and local titles. Currently, Fuller remains the coach at McDowell High School and the Millcreek Spirits.
Presently, Ms. Fuller teaches third grade at Grandview Elementary School and is married to husband Brian. The Fullers are parents to two accomplished local cheerleader/dancers Lexi, 8 and Gabi, 6.
Ms. Fuller is looking to assemble a unit of local talent that will be honed into the Freeze's "Chillers" squad that will take the field in April 2005. The Chillers will not only be the team's professional dance/cheer squad but will be expected to be an integral part of the promotional aspect of the Freeze.
"The Chillers will be a force on the floor as well as in the community," stated Fuller. "The fans of Erie can expect a dedicated group of local women that will dance/cheer in NFL/NBA style right here in Erie.
