
Eric Roman commits to Wayne State

Alpena MI: Alpena IceDiggers GM/Head Coach Kenny Miller is proud to announce that defensemen Eric Roman has committed to Wayne State University for the 2007 season.
"I am extremely happy for Eric and his family, he is getting a chance to play at the DI level in the Detroit area." said Miller
Roman is in his second season with Alpena after spending his high school career at Orchard Lake St. Mary's where he won a state title his senior year. "Eric stepped in last year and played a big role with our hockey club and he has improved everyday since he got here and his hard work has paid off for him." added Miller
The 20 year old defensemen has played in 55 games this years scoring 7 goals and assisting on 17 others for a total of 24 points. He is third on the team with 103 penalty minutes.
The West Bloomfield MI native becomes the third IceDigger to commit to play division one hockey next season veteran forward Drew Pierson is headed to West Point while Alpena's leading scorer Todd Rudasill is off to Ohio State.
Roman joins a host of former IceDiggers who are currently attending Division I schools. Bret Norris (Canisius), Dan Peace (RPI), Archie Dessert (U Conn), Paul Scalici (Bentley), Bobby Phillips (Mercyhurst) and Eric Giosa (Sacred Heart).
