Empire to Host 2016 Mascot Tryouts

January 7, 2016 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Spokane Empire News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Empire announced today the date for their 2016 mascot tryouts.

The team will be hiring one primary mascot for game days and up to three alternates to serve as substitutes and to assist with appearances. The team will also be hiring a primary mascot for the George Gee Hamster for game days.

Tryouts will be held on Saturday, January 30 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Central YMCA located at 930 North Monroe Street in Spokane. There is no fee to tryout. Tryouts are a closed event and not open to the public.

Participants must be 18-years of age or older and possess reliable transportation. Prior to trying out, participants will be required to fill out an application consisting of waivers and background information. The application is available online at www.SpokaneEmpire.com/team/tryouts.

The mascot suit is ideally constructed for a person within a few inches range of 5-foot-10. Please note this is not an exact requirement, simply the specified range by the manufacturer. Variance of a participant's height and weight must be taken into consideration for final selections due to the physical constraints of the mascot uniform.

The primary mascot(s) will be expected to be available for all home games. Availability for additional team activities and community events is preferred, but not required. Alternates will be hired based off availability and ability to fill in for the primary mascot primarily at special events.

To tryout participants will be asked to prepare a two-minute, crowd pleasing routine. Participants may be asked by the judging panel for additional impromptu routines the night of the tryouts. Friendly humor, dancing skills, high energy, physical fitness (push-ups), and the ability to engage fans will be just a few categories taken into consideration by the judges.

The brand new Empire mascot will launch in mid-February to the public.
