SPOKANE, Washington- The Empire has signed offensive specialist Rob Brown to their 2017 IFL roster.
Brown (RB/KR, 5-9, 185, Union) joins the Empire for his second year as a member of the IFL. Last season with the Tri-Cities Fever, Rob played in 12 games and recorded 81 rush attempts for 271 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 43 receptions for 314 yards and two receiving scores. He also led the Fever in kick returns with 34 attempts for 688 yards and four touchdowns. Before his time in the IFL, Brown spent time with the Alabama Hammers of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL).
"Rob Brown is a very high-character young man and one of the hardest workers I have been around," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "His ability out of the backfield was obvious when we faced him while he was in Tri-Cities. He possesses big play ability no matter where you line him up on the field."
During his collegiate career at Union College (KY), Rob appeared in 42 total contests and recorded 525 rush attempts for 2,710 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also added 72 receptions for 823 yards and seven receiving scores. As a kick returner, he added 982 yards and one touchdown on 44 attempts. He received First-Team All-American honors in 2012 and Honorable Mention in 2011.
Rob is the twin brother of Empire defensive back Robert Brown. They are originally from Daytona Beach, Florida.
