SPOKANE, Washington (November 3, 2015) - The Empire has signed restricted free agent offensive lineman Bill Vavau to their 2017 IFL roster. Vavau (OL, 6-4, 330, Utah State) joins the Empire for his third season as a member of the IFL after playing the last two years in Colorado. Last season with the Crush, Vavau helped protect the league's regular season passing leader in touchdowns (68). Colorado also ranked second in the IFL in passing yards per game (277.9).

"Bill Vavau was one of the best offensive lineman we faced last season. He became a priority free agent for us after we watched him protect against the league's best defenders," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "He's a big framed, athletic lineman that can play center or on the edge. To win in the IFL, the offensive line must be the strength of your football team. This offseason, we feel like we have taken steps to make sure we are the best."

Bill played his final two collegiate seasons at Utah State where he appeared in 16 total contests. Before becoming an Aggie, he played two seasons at Snow College (UT) on the offensive and defensive lines as he helped the Badgers to the Top of the Mountains Bowl title in 2011. He also earned second-team All-Western States Football League honors as a sophomore. Vavau played his prep career at Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah.
