SPOKANE, Wash. - The Empire has signed defensive lineman Donte Rumph before the IFL Playoffs roster freeze which goes into effect at 2:00 p.m. PT today (Tuesday, June 28).

Rumph (DL, 6-4, 320, Kentucky) joins the Empire for his first season as a member of the IFL. Before joining the Empire, Rumph spent time as an undrafted free agent with the Atlanta Falcons following the 2014 NFL Draft. During his collegiate career as a Wildcat, Rumph was a three-year starter where he recorded 126 total tackles and seven sacks. At the conclusion of his senior season, Donte earned Second Team All-SEC honors from Athlon Sports after registering a career-high 47 tackles.

"Donte is the big bodied nose-guard we have been missing throughout the year. With the injury to D.J. it put us in a very tough spot stopping the run," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "With Donte here, we have the true nose-guard that could fill those gaps for us. Our defensive line has been a weapon all year and D.J. has been doing a very good job for us, but with that injury the timing is perfect for Donte to help us in Playoffs."

Rumph played two seasons at Fork Union (VA) Military Academy before attending the University of Kentucky. He played his prep career at Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews, South Carolina.

Additional Transactions: The Empire placed D.J. Yendrey (DL, 6-3, 285, Texas Christian) on the season ending injured reserve list.
