SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Empire has signed defensive back Adrian James to their 2016 roster.

James (DB, 6-0, 200, Texas-El Paso) joins the Empire for his rookie season as a member of the IFL. Prior to working out for the NFL's Dallas Cowboys, Adrian played his collegiate career at the University of Texas-El Paso. Over the course of his career, he saw action in 45 contests and recorded 78 total tackles (43 solo). During his senior season, he started all 12 games and recorded 37 tackles (20 solo), one interception, a quarterback hurry, a forced fumble and was second on the team in pass breakups (6). He played his prep career at Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas where he earned All-District 9-5A honors and helped his team to a 12-1 season and berth in the state title game.

"Out of all the film I watched this year, Adrian's was the most impressive at his position," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "He's a very talented cover corner but also played with a physicality that can't be coached. I feel like he could be that midseason addition that every team searches for. Off the field, his high character and positive attitude will help him fit in quickly here."

Complete Transactions: The Empire signed Adrian James (DB, 6-0, 200, Texas-El Paso) and released Demetruce McNeal (DB, 6-2, 200, Auburn).
