He also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012) and Tennessee Titans (2012-13).

During his collegiate career at Utah State, Borel was a multiple-threat athlete for the Aggies. He was a three-year starter at quarterback where he threw for 6,698 yards and recorded 8,096 yards of total offense. He also contributed as a punter. Borel played his prep career at Freedom High School in Oakley, California.

"D.J. and Diondre each have the ability to come in and contribute for us right away," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "D.J. will help fill an immediate need due to some injuries we've incurred over the past few weeks, while Diondre is an experienced and explosive player that has the athleticism to contribute in multiple positions within our offense."

Complete Transactions: The Empire signed D.J. Yendrey (DL, 6-4, 280, Texas State) and Diondre Borel (QB/WR, 6-0, 195, Utah State).
